Mixed nozzles on one Morley station
A Morley verge threw up a problem worth explaining. Station 3 was running two solenoids wired together at the coils, so both valves opened as one — and the areas they fed had different nozzle types, conventional sprays on one and MP Rotators on the other.
Those two put water down at very different rates, so a single run time cannot suit both: whatever suits the sprays will over-water or under-water the rotators. One of the two solenoids (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) was also stuck open.
Our technician replaced the faulty solenoid, dealt with a leak that appeared at the valve, fitted conventional nozzles for better coverage in that area and replaced an MP Rotator. The lesson generalises: nozzle types should not be mixed within a station, because the station, not the nozzle, is what the controller times.
