Regular servicing keeps your reticulation efficient, waterwise and reliable

Healthy green Perth lawn kept lush by regular reticulation servicing

Why regular reticulation servicing matters

Just like your car, a reticulation system works better and lasts longer when it's serviced regularly. Over a season, sprinklers drift out of alignment, solenoids start to weep, fittings work loose and controller settings fall out of step with the watering roster — and you usually don't notice until a patch of lawn dies or the water bill jumps.

A regular service catches those small faults early, while they're cheap to fix, and keeps your watering efficient and within Perth's rules. It's the difference between a system you can rely on and one that quietly wastes water all summer. If a service does uncover a fault that needs more work, our team also handles full reticulation repairs.

The small faults a service catches before they cost you

Most reticulation problems don't arrive all at once — they creep in over a season. A sprinkler clipped by the mower starts spraying the fence instead of the lawn. A solenoid valve stops sealing cleanly and a station weeps water long after it should have shut off. A controller battery dies and the program drifts. None of it is dramatic on day one, but left alone through a Perth summer it adds up to dry patches, soggy corners, a higher water bill and, eventually, a repair that costs far more than a service would have.

That's the whole point of regular servicing: our technician finds and fixes the little things while they're still little. We check the coverage your garden is actually getting, not just whether water comes out — over-spray onto paths and driveways is wasted water, and under-coverage is what kills lawn in the heat. We make sure your controller is running the correct days, start times and durations for your water pressure and the current Water Corporation roster, and that any controller or WiFi unit is set up the way you actually use it.

If a service uncovers something bigger — a failed solenoid we need to locate, a cracked main, a pump that's struggling — we can usually fix it on the spot, and for anything beyond that we'll be upfront about what's needed. Our technicians carry fully stocked vehicles, so the majority of repairs are handled there and then rather than turning into a second visit.

What a reticulation health check covers

A reticulation health check is a full once-over of your system by an experienced technician. We don't just glance at it — we run it, test it and adjust it, so you finish with a clear picture of its condition and our honest advice on anything that needs attention.

  • Run every station and check coverage for dry spots and over-spray
  • Inspect, clean and realign sprinkler heads
  • Check for leaks, low pressure and burst fittings
  • Test solenoid valves and wiring
  • Review the controller program against Perth's watering roster
  • Advise on anything that needs repair — minor fixes done on the spot

Reticulation sprinkler being tested during a service in Perth

Seasonal servicing through the Perth watering year

Perth's watering year has a rhythm — spring start-up, peak-summer testing, the winter switch-off and the quiet window for improvements. We look after your reticulation through every season of it.

Spring start-up reticulation service getting a Perth lawn ready for summer

Spring start-up

Before the warm weather returns, we bring your system back to life: run every station, check for leaks or burst fittings from over winter, realign and clear sprinklers, confirm coverage and reprogram the controller for the season ahead. It's the best way to avoid a dead patch of lawn in the first hot week.

Reticulation sprinkler being tested during a Perth summer to keep the lawn alive

Summer testing

Perth's hottest months are when a small fault does the most damage — a blocked nozzle or a head knocked out of line can kill a patch of lawn in days. That's why we recommend two visits across summer: one as the heat sets in and another mid-season, checking coverage, pressure and controller timing while it matters most. Two checks over the hottest months is the surest way to keep your garden alive through summer.

Winter switch-off of a reticulation system during Perth's sprinkler ban

Winter switch-off

Perth's sprinkler ban runs 1 June to 31 August, when both scheme and garden-bore sprinkler watering is switched off. Heading into winter we wind your system down correctly and make sure it's protected over the cold months — so nothing is quietly leaking or seized when it's time to start up again.

Reticulation upgrade and repair work carried out over winter in Perth

Scheduled winter improvements

Winter is the quietest time of year and the ideal window for any bigger work a service uncovers — from repairs and controller upgrades to a full new system install. Booking improvements over winter means everything's tested and ready to go the moment the warm weather returns on 1 September.

Maintenance for homes and commercial properties

It doesn't matter whether your system runs four stations or a hundred — we service residential and commercial reticulation alike. For homeowners, a one-off service each spring keeps the lawn green and the bills down.

For larger sites we put scheduled, documented maintenance in place and send two technicians to keep things efficient. If you manage a council reserve, strata, facility or multi-site portfolio, our commercial reticulation team can set up a recurring maintenance program with proper reporting.

Staying efficient also helps you make the most of Water Corporation offers — see our WaterCorp rebate & waterwise guide.

"I wanted to remove the old relic controllers that were hardwired in and replace them with a double powerpoint and a new plug in controller I bought on Amazon. The new unit has an app so I can control it from my iPhone. Perth Reticulation Experts did a nice, neat job for me in around an hour and a half and everything is working fine. All the staff I spoke to were responsive and professional and the quote was the lowest I got so I'm quite happy (and I've got a spare powerpoint outside). I've added before and after photos so you see the difference."

Real jobs, real fixes

Two units, one hidden leak

A routine Balcatta duplex service turned up more than nozzles and risers: a leak in a sleeve under the shared driveway. We located the far end, replaced the poly run through it without lifting a brick, and left both units' systems tested and scheduled.

Four controllers, one visit

At a large Armadale aged-care complex we tested every controller across the grounds, replaced damaged pop-ups and nozzles throughout, and reset all the schedules — the kind of grounds-wide service that keeps big sites out of trouble.

Reticulation Maintenance & Servicing FAQs

Like your car, a reticulation system runs better and lasts longer with regular servicing. A periodic service catches small faults — a weeping solenoid, a blocked or misaligned sprinkler, a controller drifting off its schedule — before they turn into dry patches, water waste and a bigger repair bill. Regular servicing also keeps your watering efficient and within Perth's roster, which protects both your garden and your water bill.

More about reticulation repairs

Our reticulation health check is a full once-over of your system. We run each station and check coverage for dry spots and over-spray, inspect and adjust sprinkler heads, look for leaks and pressure problems, test the solenoid valves, and check the controller program against the current Water Corporation watering roster. You finish with a clear picture of your system's condition and our advice on anything that needs attention — minor adjustments we'll usually sort on the spot.

More about controllers & WiFi setup

Two moments matter most in Perth: heading into the winter sprinkler switch-off (1 June to 31 August), when systems can be safely wound down; and the spring start-up before the warm weather returns, so everything is checked, adjusted and watering correctly the moment your garden needs it again. The winter switch-off period (June–August) is also the quietest time of year and the best window for any bigger work the service uncovers.

More about new system installation

A spring start-up gets your system ready for the watering season after winter. We turn the system back on, run every station, check for leaks or burst fittings that appeared over winter, realign and clear sprinklers, confirm coverage and reprogram the controller to the correct watering days and times for the season ahead. It's the single best way to avoid a dead patch of lawn in the first hot week of summer.

More about controllers & WiFi setup

Perth's sprinkler ban runs from 1 June to 31 August, when scheme and bore watering with reticulation is switched off. Heading into winter we can wind your system down correctly and use the quieter season to plan and carry out any repairs, upgrades or a new install — so come 1 September your system is ready to go the instant the warm weather kicks in. We'll help you navigate the switch-off and switch-on without wasting a drop.

Yes. It doesn't matter whether your system has four stations or a hundred — we service residential and commercial systems alike. For larger or commercial properties we can put scheduled, documented maintenance in place and send two technicians to keep the service efficient and cost-effective. If you manage a council, strata, facility or multi-site portfolio, our commercial reticulation team can set up a recurring maintenance program.

More about commercial reticulation

Both. You can book a one-off health check whenever it suits — many Perth homeowners do one each spring — or set up recurring servicing so we look after your system through the seasons automatically. Recurring maintenance is popular with commercial sites and busy households that would rather we just keep on top of it. Call us on (08) 6263 4644 to set up whichever suits you.

Servicing is charged on a time-and-parts basis — our standard reticulation service rate covers an experienced technician with all the tools and equipment for the job, then any replacement parts are charged as required. Because we won't know what (if anything) needs replacing until we've assessed your system, servicing is booked rather than quoted; let us know at the time of booking if you'd like to set a time cap. New installs and upgrades, by contrast, are quoted after a paid site assessment.
