An Ardross system had three defective valves — the master valve (the main valve that shuts the whole system off) with a split diaphragm, and the station 1 and station 3 solenoids (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) — and our technician replaced all three. The honest part of this job is what happened next: it did not resolve the problem.
We had told the owner beforehand that the solenoids were the likely cause, and after replacing them there was no improvement, which means the fault lies elsewhere in the system. Saying so directly is better than presenting the valve replacements as a fix.
The short-term option discussed was to top-lay poly from the top steps through to the deck, restoring water to that area without excavating while the underlying cause is worked out. Three genuinely faulty valves still needed replacing; they simply were not the whole answer.
