Re-zoning a Yokine garden
A Yokine job in 2024 was about zoning rather than breakage. The garden beds were all running on one station, which becomes a problem when beds sit at different heights: the higher of two raised beds was never going to receive the same water as the ones at ground level while they shared a station and a run time.
Our technician installed a new solenoid (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) to create an additional station and split the beds into two sections, giving the raised bed its own station and its own schedule. New rigid risers (the upright pipe a sprinkler sits on) and sprays went into that bed, and new poly pipe with rigid risers and sprays into the three front beds.
A leak in the poly connected to the drip line, and another in the drip line in the centre bed, were repaired at the same time. Zoning by need rather than convenience is what makes run times mean anything.
