One broken sprinkler, low pressure across a Winthrop system
A Winthrop system had low pressure, and the cause was a single broken sprinkler. That is worth stating plainly, because low pressure is often assumed to be a supply problem or a failing pump when it is frequently one head with a break in it.
A broken sprinkler is an open pipe — it will take as much water as the line can deliver and leave nothing for the heads further along the station. Our technician repaired the broken head, which resolved both the leak and the pressure, and replaced a micro spray in the garden.
The controller was also malfunctioning and was replaced with a six-station unit and programmed. The system was then tested through and found to be in good working order.
