Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. Well-drained yellow sands over Tamala limestone: water moves through fast, so a properly scheduled controller and soil wetters do the heavy lifting.
Groundwater & bores. This is favourable ground for garden bores — sand all the way to the water table in most streets. Bore-fed retic avoids scheme water charges, though the same 2-day roster and winter switch-off govern when it can run.
Rainfall — about 672mm a year. Around 672mm falls annually (Pearce Raaf data), close to 77% of it May-September; gardens rely almost entirely on reticulation from November to March, when scheduling accuracy matters most.

A Ridgewood leak that survived the repair
A Ridgewood site had a leak that several people had reported, and our technician found a broken pop-up as the apparent cause. It was repaired — and it kept leaking.
That result is the useful part of this job. Where a head continues to weep after being replaced, the head was not the problem: water is still reaching that point when it should not be, which points at a valve on that station failing to close fully.
The site was assessed further on that basis, with solenoid (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) replacement identified as the likely next step if the leaking continued. Reporting an unresolved fault as unresolved matters more than closing the job.
A leak that persists after a repair is telling you something specific, and treating the repair as final is how the actual cause gets missed.

Local reticulation questions
Yes, but get the City's approval first. Ridgewood is in the City of Wanneroo. Irrigation pipes and connections shall be laid beneath the nature strip between 150mm and 300mm deep.
Generally yes — Ridgewood sits over accessible groundwater, which is why garden bores are common here. Depth, yield and iron content still vary block to block, so it's worth assessing rather than assuming. We install, service and repair bores and pumps.
Ridgewood sits on Spearwood sands. Water moves through it fast, and the sand can turn water-repellent once it dries out. The most common thing we get booked for in Ridgewood is controller work, so that's where the technician starts.
