Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. Free-draining yellow sand with limestone often close beneath — great drainage, poor moisture holding. Splitting one watering into two cycles inside the same window suits it, and retic trenching can hit caprock.
Groundwater & bores. Sandy soils over shallow groundwater make this classic garden-bore territory; running retic from a bore takes garden watering off the scheme-water bill. Bores follow the same 2-day roster and winter switch-off as scheme users.
Rainfall — about 672mm a year. Averages about 672mm a year at the Pearce Raaf gauge with roughly 77% falling May-September — so the controller should step down through autumn and observe the 1 June - 31 August sprinkler switch-off.

A Clarkson controller swap that revealed a second fault
A Clarkson system was reported as not working, and the controller was indeed faulty — our technician located and replaced it. Testing afterwards produced no water at all, which told us the controller had never been the whole problem.
Working back along the supply, the isolation valve and master solenoid valve (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) were located, and the isolation valve was found to be faulty. That is a plumbing component rather than a reticulation one, so it was referred on for replacement and the fault formally reported rather than left as a verbal note.
This sequence is common enough to be worth naming: a genuinely faulty controller gets replaced, everyone assumes the job is done, and the system still does not run because a second fault upstream was masked by the first. Testing after the repair, not before it, is what catches them.

Local reticulation questions
Yes, but get the City's approval first. Clarkson is in the City of Wanneroo. Irrigation pipes and connections shall be laid beneath the nature strip between 150mm and 300mm deep.
Generally yes — Clarkson sits over accessible groundwater, which is why garden bores are common here. What varies is depth, yield and how much iron comes up with the water — all worth checking on your block before committing. We install, service and repair bores and pumps.
Clarkson sits on Spearwood sands. Water moves through it fast, and the sand can turn water-repellent once it dries out. The most common thing we get booked for in Clarkson is controller work, so that's where the technician starts. We aim for around 10mm on each of your two watering days, and decide on site whether that wants one run or two cycles inside the same window.
Water Corporation sets Clarkson's sprinkler days: check yours with your street number and postcode. In Perth and Mandurah that's two days a week, once before 9am or after 6pm, bores included; elsewhere the roster can differ. The winter switch-off runs from 1 June to 31 August. After it, the Bureau of Meteorology's RAAF Pearce station averages about 67 mm of rain in September and 37 mm in October, a little drier than central Perth's 80 mm.
A controller repair isn't quoted: book the visit and it's diagnosed and fixed on site. An upgrade, say to Wi-Fi, can be quoted without a visit: tell us if your controller is hardwired or plugs into a power point (a photo helps). If it needs an electrician, we arrange one.
