A Butler controller fault that lived in the cable pit
A Butler job was booked to rectify a controller fault. Our technician located the controller, tested the system, and found the problem was distributed across three points rather than sitting in the controller itself.
The coil on station 2 had failed and was replaced. The valve on station 1 was replaced as well.
The third fault is the one that ties it together: the wires had come apart in the cable pit at the base of the controller, where the controller's output meets the field wiring. That junction is a common failure point — it is where two different wiring runs meet, often joined years apart, and it sits in a pit that collects water.
Rejoining those wires alongside the two valve repairs returned the system to full operation.
