Your local Melville reticulation team
We've completed 23 local jobs in Melville, 13 of them in the last two years: solenoids tracked down under tree roots, failed master valves swapped, gushing pop-ups replaced, controllers reprogrammed to the Water Corporation roster. Most of it is honest repair work on established gardens — systems that mostly work, with one fault that's been let go a little too long. Repairs are booked straight in, not quoted over the phone. A technician diagnoses on site, fixes what's fixable on the day, and tells you straight if something bigger is brewing.
Verge and streetscape watering rules sit with the City of Melville — worth checking before verge retic work, and we can advise on what your council allows. Sand over limestone drains rapidly and can turn water-repellent in summer — wetting agent plus shorter, more frequent cycles is the standard fix in this belt. This suburb sits on Perth's sandy coastal plain over the superficial aquifer, where garden bores are common and generally productive. Bore water isn't metered like scheme supply, so a serviced bore slashes the cost of keeping gardens green — the standard 2-day roster and June-August sprinkler switch-off still apply. Roughly 808mm a year here (Jandakot Aero), with about 79% of it falling May-September — the long dry rest of the year is why controller programming and coverage checks pay for themselves. Our depot in Jandakot puts Melville about 9 km away, comfortably inside our everyday coverage.
We’re Waterwise-endorsed and Irrigation Australia members, every job is backed by a full warranty, and we’re Perth’s most-reviewed retic specialist (rated 4.7 from 230 Google reviews).

What does Melville’s soil and water mean for your retic?
Soil — Spearwood sands. Classic Spearwood profile: free-draining sand, limestone beneath. Lawns respond to frequent light watering, and sprinkler layouts need decent pressure to cover evenly.
Groundwater & bores. Sandy soils over shallow groundwater make this classic garden-bore territory; running retic from a bore takes garden watering off the scheme-water bill. Bores follow the same 2-day roster and winter switch-off as scheme users.
Rainfall — about 808mm a year. Averages about 808mm a year at the Jandakot Aero gauge with roughly 79% falling May-September — so the controller should step down through autumn and observe the 1 June - 31 August sprinkler switch-off.

Customer stories from Melville
The big wet patch that turned into a better system
A Melville lawn had developed a big wet patch, and the owner assumed a burst pipe. What we found was a master valve and a station solenoid that had both failed and were leaking together. We replaced both valves, repaired and repositioned the broken risers and pop-ups, and ran a full system check.
Then the job got better. The owner asked for advice on coverage while we were there, so we actioned it on the spot: raised nozzles that were sitting too low, swapped nozzle types where the throw didn't suit the area, moved a riser that was doing nobody any good, and — because the pressure allowed it — joined the station 2 and 3 garden beds so the system waters more evenly. One booking, one visit, and the garden came out of it with better coverage than before the fault.

The solenoid under the tree roots
Station 3 dead on a bore-fed system, five stations, and only a rough idea of where the valve might be. Tracking a buried solenoid is half the job in established suburbs like Melville — this one turned out to be sitting under tree roots, which is why it took proper locating gear and some patience rather than guesswork and a shovel. We tracked it, worked it free, replaced the valve, then tested all five stations from the front lawns to the very back of the block and checked the controller settings before leaving.

Sorted for an owner who doesn't live in Perth
One Melville property is owned by someone who doesn't live in Perth at all — the booking simply said fix the leak beside the driveway and check everything else while you're there. We repaired the leaking pipe on station 1, replaced one sprinkler and raised another that had sunk near the water meter, swapped a tired micro spray in the back garden bed, programmed the controller to its Thursday-and-Sunday roster in line with Water Corporation rules, and fitted a fresh backup battery so the program survives a power cut. Job done, everything on record, all handled without the owner setting foot in Perth.

And week in, week out
The rest of our Melville work looks like this. A pop-up gushing water beside a driveway gets replaced — and the system check afterwards turns up two more leaks, one of which is just a loose cap that gets washed, tightened and repositioned rather than sold to you as a new part. A dead verge station gets its failed solenoid valve replaced and matched properly to the existing manifold, and the loose controller wiring hanging next to it — a short waiting to happen — gets tidied in the same visit. A coverage complaint on a back lawn turns out to be a planter-box footing no sprinkler could ever clear, so instead of fighting what couldn't move, we changed the nozzles and fixed the throw. Twenty-three local jobs completed in Melville, and counting.
