Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. This limestone-derived sand holds little water, favouring a watering-day run split into two shorter cycles. Alkaline soil and caprock are normal here — worth knowing before any retic excavation.
Groundwater & bores. This is favourable ground for garden bores — sand all the way to the water table in most streets. Bore-fed retic avoids scheme water charges, though the same 2-day roster and winter switch-off govern when it can run.

Repairing a Bicton border after excavation damage
A Bicton property had the entire border at the front of the house damaged when earlier excavation work went through it. That is a different job from a system fault — the pipework was not worn out or failed, it was cut.
Our technician tested all six stations and worked through the consequences: pipework replaced, several leaks repaired, five faulty sprinklers replaced and micro sprays renewed. Damage from digging tends to be distributed rather than in one spot, which is why it is worth testing every station afterwards rather than only repairing the break that is visible.
