Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. Free-draining yellow sand with limestone often close beneath — great drainage, poor moisture holding. Splitting one watering into two cycles inside the same window suits it, and retic trenching can hit caprock.
Groundwater & bores. Groundwater under this part of the coastal plain is generally accessible, so a garden bore (new or revived) is a practical way to water without paying scheme rates. Water Corporation's roster and winter sprinkler ban still apply to bores.
Rainfall — about 718mm a year. Expect ~718mm annually per the Perth Metro gauge, heavily winter-weighted (~79% May-Sep): summer is effectively rain-free, so summer run times carry the garden.

A new controller, and a Koondoola station that still wouldn't run
A Koondoola property had a new reticulation controller installed, and station 2 still would not run. The controller was not the problem.
Our technician found the 25mm poly pipe on that station had failed and needed repairing and rejoining before the station could work at all — new controller or not. With that done and a system check run, nozzles and risers (the upright pipe a sprinkler sits on) were repaired and replaced where needed, and the 13mm poly line was extended around a garden bed with new risers and nozzles so the planting there was actually covered.
The controller was also reprogrammed: it had been set with multiple start times, so the system was running several cycles a day. Replacing a controller is a common first move when a station stops working, and it rarely fixes a fault that lives in the pipework or the field wiring.

Local reticulation questions
Yes, but get the City's approval first. Koondoola is in the City of Wanneroo. Irrigation pipes and connections shall be laid beneath the nature strip between 150mm and 300mm deep.
Generally yes — Koondoola sits over accessible groundwater, which is why garden bores are common here. Depth, yield and iron content still vary block to block, so it's worth assessing rather than assuming. We install, service and repair bores and pumps.
Koondoola sits on Spearwood sands. Water moves through it fast, and the sand can turn water-repellent once it dries out. The most common thing we get booked for in Koondoola is controller work, so that's where the technician starts. The schedule is built around about 10mm on each rostered day — split into two cycles inside the same watering window when the ground won't take it in one.
Water Corporation sets Koondoola's sprinkler days: check yours with your street number and postcode.
