A Kensington valve being crushed by a jacaranda
A Kensington verge had two station valves sitting at the base of a jacaranda, and the tree was winning. One valve was being physically crushed by root growth, and the wiring to both had been damaged by the root system.
Digging out a mature jacaranda's roots to re-run wire is not a reasonable answer, so our technician ran a new wire between the front lawn station valve and this one so the two come on together, and terminated the other valve's wiring at the controller. Once the system was operational again, most of the nozzles and seven sprinklers at the front were replaced, micro sprays renewed, spectrum emitters added to pot plants and unneeded micro sprays plugged.
A disintegrated valve on a drip line, spraying into the air, was also repaired. Trees and valve boxes are a long-term conflict, and the tree usually outlasts the valve.
