Replacing the coil, not the valve, in Gwelup
A Gwelup master valve (the main valve that shuts the whole system off) was found buried under heavy grasses, which is where a good deal of the time on this job went. The intention on arrival was to replace the whole master valve, but with it exposed and testable the coil turned out to be the failed component and the valve body sound — so the coil alone was swapped and a system check run.
That is worth doing whenever the valve body is in good condition: it is a fraction of the work and leaves the plumbing undisturbed. Our technician also repaired and lowered the faucet elbow connecting to the drip line, repaired a leak in the drip line itself and replaced pop-ups where needed.
Lowering the elbow matters — a fitting standing proud is the part that gets caught and snapped.
