Verge planting and reticulation rules sit with the Shire of Mundaring, while watering days come from the Water Corporation sprinkler roster, not the council — worth checking both before any verge retic work. We're about 27 km from our Jandakot base, well inside the daily service runs.
Hills gravel: slopes, runoff and uneven sprinkler pressure
Soil — Darling Scarp gravels. Shallow stony soils over laterite drain unpredictably; drip irrigation for beds and carefully staged lawn cycles handle the slope and the rock together.
Groundwater & bores. Few viable garden bores exist this far up the scarp — the practical levers are controller upgrades, seasonal reprogramming and keeping every sprinkler head in spec.
Rainfall — about 755mm a year. About 755mm a year (Perth Airport M.O.), with ~79% arriving May-September — a smart controller with seasonal adjust handles the swing, and winter watering is largely unnecessary even before the ban.

Local reticulation questions
Not without approval first. Boya is in the Shire of Mundaring.
Groundwater access around Boya is limited, so bores are less common here and often not the right answer. A properly zoned system with matched sprinklers and a modern controller gets excellent results on scheme water instead.
Boya sits on Darling Scarp gravels. On a slope that soil sheds water sideways before it soaks, and there are clay pockets underneath. The most common thing we get booked for in Boya is controller work, so that's where the technician starts. Run times get set to put down roughly 10mm per rostered day, delivered in one or two cycles inside the same watering window, depending on how fast it soaks.
Water Corporation sets Boya's sprinkler days: check yours with your street number and postcode. In Perth and Mandurah that's two days a week, once before 9am or after 6pm, bores included; elsewhere the roster can differ. The winter switch-off runs from 1 June to 31 August. After it, the Bureau of Meteorology's Perth Airport station averages about 72 mm of rain in September and 43 mm in October, a little drier than central Perth's 80 mm.
A controller repair isn't quoted: book the visit and it's diagnosed and fixed on site. An upgrade, say to Wi-Fi, can be quoted without a visit: tell us if your controller is hardwired or plugs into a power point (a photo helps). If it needs an electrician, we arrange one.
