Building damage resistance into a Wilson garden
A Wilson job was as much about preventing the next fault as fixing the current one. A micro spray that kept getting damaged was moved behind the fence line, out of the way of whatever had been knocking it.
A new pop-up was installed at the corner of a garden bed at the owner's request, mounted on flexible tube rather than a rigid riser (the upright pipe a sprinkler sits on) — so if it is knocked by foot traffic the tube flexes instead of the fitting snapping. We explained that choice to the owner rather than simply making it.
A new micro tube and spray stake were installed to one pot, and nozzles replaced across the rest of the system after checking each area. Position and mounting decide how often a head gets broken, and both are worth thinking about at the moment of repair, when changing them costs nothing extra.
