A Bentley valve hidden under a tree
A Bentley job started as a leak in the front yard and turned into a locating exercise. The solenoid valve (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) was not where the pipework suggested it should be — it was found under a tree and shrub planting, roughly a metre and a half away from the mains.
Gardens grow over valves. A valve box installed in open ground at the time of installation ends up inside a mature shrub a decade later, and anyone servicing the system has to find it again before any repair can start.
Our technician replaced the solenoid valve once located, replaced a micro spray, and repaired a blowout in the 4mm tube feeding the drip system. Small-diameter tube blowouts are easy to miss because they often surface as a wet patch rather than as running water, and they will drop pressure across the whole bed.
