Three dead coils and one clean cut
A Nollamara system came in as 'controller works, retic doesn't'. Testing showed something odd: station 1 appeared to be running three coils, and not one of them gave an ohms reading — while the master valve tested healthy. Three solenoids all failing at once is close to unheard of, so instead of ordering three new valves we kept asking why.
The answer was a clean cut through the multicore cable, right where a new fence had gone in. We located the master valve and the station 1 solenoid, replaced both valves, then rewired the run properly — multicore in conduit along the retaining wall, out of the garden bed where the next contractor's shovel can't reach it. Full system check run, everything working.
A veggie patch, a lemon tree and one garden tap
Not everything needs a new controller. For one Nollamara backyard we kept the existing tap timer, reprogrammed it, and built the watering around it: 20mm PVC pushed under the paving, 19mm poly out to the growing areas, pressure-compensating spray stakes on the lemon tree and both raised veggie planters, and side sprays for the pots under the alfresco. The old two-way tap manifold was leaking, so that was replaced while we were there. One station, one timer, everything watered.
