Coastal dune sand: fast drainage and your sprinklers
Soil — Quindalup coastal sands. Free-draining calcareous beach sand with very low water holding — irrigation here works best as two brief cycles on the same watering day plus regular wetting-agent treatment.
Groundwater & bores. The superficial aquifer here typically supports domestic garden bores — a big running-cost saving over scheme water for lawns. Note bore users now share the standard 2-days-per-week roster and the 1 June - 31 August switch-off.
Rainfall — about 718mm a year. The Perth Metro gauge averages ~718mm a year, ~79% of it May through September — dial summer cycles for zero rainfall help and let the winter switch-off do its job.

A high resistance reading on a Mullaloo station
A Mullaloo system was troubleshot from the controller using continuity testing, and station 2 returned a high reading. High resistance is the diagnosis worth understanding: the circuit is complete, so the station may even work intermittently, but something along the run — usually a corroded join or a partly damaged conductor — is resisting the current the coil needs.
It typically fails on hot days, or when the coil is already working hard. That station was rewired and the connections gel capped, with clips added to a poly join at the same time.
Station 1 had a straightforward mechanical valve failure and was replaced. The remaining stations were checked and their connections gel capped as well, which is worth doing across a system once one join has been found to have failed.

Local reticulation questions
Yes, it's a permissible verge treatment. Mullaloo is in the City of Joondalup. Irrigation pipes should be laid beneath the verge at a depth between 150mm and 300mm.
Generally yes — Mullaloo sits over accessible groundwater, which is why garden bores are common here. What varies is depth, yield and how much iron comes up with the water — all worth checking on your block before committing. We install, service and repair bores and pumps.
Mullaloo sits on Quindalup coastal sands. There is almost no reserve moisture in that profile, so even coverage matters more here than almost anywhere. The most common thing we get booked for in Mullaloo is servicing & tune-ups, so that's where the technician starts. We set run times to deliver about 10mm on each of your two rostered days, and split the run into two cycles inside the same watering window where the soil needs it.
Water Corporation sets Mullaloo's sprinkler days: check yours with your street number and postcode. In Perth and Mandurah that's two days a week, once before 9am or after 6pm, bores included; elsewhere the roster can differ. The winter switch-off runs from 1 June to 31 August. After it, the Bureau of Meteorology's Perth Metro station averages about 80 mm of rain in September and 40 mm in October.
A controller repair isn't quoted: book the visit and it's diagnosed and fixed on site. An upgrade, say to Wi-Fi, can be quoted without a visit: tell us if your controller is hardwired or plugs into a power point (a photo helps). If it needs an electrician, we arrange one.
