Clay-loam soil: slow to soak, prone to runoff
Soil — Pinjarra Plain clay-loams. Clay-loam soil rewards patient watering — several short soak cycles per station beat one long run, and drippers suit beds better than sprays.
Groundwater & bores. Mixed geology makes this variable bore country; success cases exist nearby but aren't guaranteed. Smart controllers and seasonal reprogramming deliver dependable savings regardless of water source.

Setting run times on a Langford system
A Langford site was tested across its four stations, with two nozzles adjusted and the controller programmed to run each station for 18 minutes. Run time is the setting people change most and understand least.
It is not a measure of how much water the garden needs — it is how long the nozzles fitted to that station take to deliver that much, which means the correct number depends entirely on what is on the end of the pipe. A station of conventional sprays and a station of rotators watering identical areas need very different times, and copying one to the other guarantees one of them is wrong.

Local reticulation questions
Yes, no approval needed. Langford is in the City of Gosnells. Any reticulation, including water pipes and sprinklers are to be laid beneath the surface of the verge and must not protrude above the lawn or garden surface when not in use.
