A blown coupling at a Kewdale bore head
A Kewdale property runs off a bore, and the fault was at the bore head. The 40mm coupling there had blown apart, which on a bore-fed system takes the whole supply out — there is no mains pressure sitting behind it to keep anything running.
Our technician repaired the broken pipe on the bore and installed a new barrel union in place of the failed coupling. A barrel union is the more serviceable fitting: it lets the pipework be disconnected and reconnected at that point without cutting, which matters at a bore head where the pump may need to be pulled.
The electrical connection at the top of the bore pump was also replaced and tested. All four stations were then run through, a leak in the poly repaired, faulty sprinklers replaced and an additional sprinkler added to improve coverage.
