A Jolimont property arrived with the reticulation running continuously and no way to isolate it — the owner had been forced to shut the mains water off to the whole property to stop it. Our technician electronically located the valves and found the master valve (the main valve that shuts the whole system off) and the station 1 valve had both failed mechanically, passing water regardless of what the controller was doing.
Both were replaced. With the excavation already open, the owner agreed to replace the station 2 and 3 valves as well, which is the sensible economics: the digging is the expensive part, not the valve.
A damaged pop-up on the verge was replaced and housed in a concrete surround. A property that has to be shut off at the mains to stop the retic is a system with no working isolation, and that is worth fixing on its own account.
