Confirming the fault before replacing it in Bennett Springs
A Bennett Springs system had station 1 not responding. Our technician located solenoids (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) 1 and 2 with a locator, excavated the suspect valve and tested it in place before doing anything else — which confirmed it was genuinely faulty rather than assumed to be.
That order matters. A station that will not respond can be a valve, a wire, a coil or the controller, and each has a very different cost; digging up a valve and testing it is what turns a guess into a diagnosis.
The faulty valve was replaced, both solenoids rewired while the ground was open, and pop-up sprinklers replaced once the stations were running and could be assessed properly. Rewiring the second valve at the same time is worth doing — it is already exposed, and its wiring is the same age as the run that just failed.
