Palm roots and a new fence line in Woodvale
A Woodvale site had two things working against it. Our technician located solenoids (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) 5 and 6 with a tracker, replaced their coils and rewired both valves, then tested the stations — which revealed a large number of broken and leaking pipes and sprinklers.
A number of those breaks traced back to the installation of a new fence, which had gone in across existing pipework. The rest of the difficulty was the palms: digging to locate and repair pipe among established palm root systems is slow, hard work, and it is the main reason a job like this takes the time it does.
Everything was repaired — sprinklers, micro sprays, pop-ups and the damaged pipework. Where fencing or landscaping is planned on a site with mature palms, locating the retic first is worth the hour it takes.
