Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. Free-draining yellow sand with limestone often close beneath — great drainage, poor moisture holding. Splitting one watering into two cycles inside the same window suits it, and retic trenching can hit caprock.
Groundwater & bores. The superficial aquifer here typically supports domestic garden bores — a big running-cost saving over scheme water for lawns. Note bore users now share the standard 2-days-per-week roster and the 1 June - 31 August switch-off.
Rainfall — about 718mm a year. Averages about 718mm a year at the Perth Metro gauge with roughly 79% falling May-September — so the controller should step down through autumn and observe the 1 June - 31 August sprinkler switch-off.

A Pearsall system brought back to standard
A Pearsall job was a straightforward volume of small replacements, which is what a system that has gone a while without attention usually needs. Our technician located the controller, tested the system, then worked through the list: three pop-ups, eight nozzles, three risers (the upright pipe a sprinkler sits on), four microjet caps and six microjet nozzles.
The controller was programmed and set to run automatically rather than left on manual. That last detail catches people out.
A system left in manual after previous work will run perfectly whenever someone triggers it and never run on its own, which reads as a fault when the garden starts drying out. Confirming the controller is in auto, with a schedule that suits the season, is part of finishing the job rather than an afterthought.

Local reticulation questions
Yes, but get the City's approval first. Pearsall is in the City of Wanneroo. Irrigation pipes and connections shall be laid beneath the nature strip between 150mm and 300mm deep.
Generally yes — Pearsall sits over accessible groundwater, which is why garden bores are common here. That said, two neighbouring blocks can differ on yield and iron content, so it's an assessment rather than a given. Bores, pumps and bore-fed retic are all work we do.
Pearsall sits on Spearwood sands. Water moves through it fast, and the sand can turn water-repellent once it dries out. The most common thing we get booked for in Pearsall is controller work, so that's where the technician starts. The schedule is built around about 10mm on each rostered day — split into two cycles inside the same watering window when the ground won't take it in one.
Water Corporation sets Pearsall's sprinkler days: check yours with your street number and postcode. In Perth and Mandurah that's two days a week, once before 9am or after 6pm, bores included; elsewhere the roster can differ. The winter switch-off runs from 1 June to 31 August. After it, the Bureau of Meteorology's Perth Metro station averages about 80 mm of rain in September and 40 mm in October.
A controller repair isn't quoted: book the visit and it's diagnosed and fixed on site. An upgrade, say to Wi-Fi, can be quoted without a visit: tell us if your controller is hardwired or plugs into a power point (a photo helps). If it needs an electrician, we arrange one.
