Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. Spearwood-belt sand sheds water quickly past roots; wetting agents and short repeat cycles keep gardens even. Limestone near the surface calls for experience when digging in new lines.
Groundwater & bores. This is favourable ground for garden bores — sand all the way to the water table in most streets. Bore-fed retic avoids scheme water charges, though the same 2-day roster and winter switch-off govern when it can run.
Rainfall — about 718mm a year. Local average is ~718mm a year, about 79% of it in the May-September wet season (Perth Metro) — reprogram seasonally and switch sprinklers off for the mandatory June-August ban.

Restoring coverage across an Edgewater system
An Edgewater property was reported by its tenant and tested from the controller out. The faults were spread rather than concentrated: damaged and blocked sprinklers, faulty nozzles, broken risers (the upright pipe a sprinkler sits on) and problems with the solenoid (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) wiring.
Our technician cleared and adjusted nine sprinklers along with their filters and nozzles, replaced three nozzles and two complete pop-up sprinklers, and installed three new shrub adaptors and border sprays where the existing fittings were damaged. Poor coverage and dry patches are one of the patterns this area's job history shows, and jobs like this explain why — it is rarely one failed component.
It is a dozen small ones, each taking a little off the spray pattern, until the areas at the edge of every head's reach stop getting enough.
