Your local Willetton reticulation team

We've completed 78 local jobs in Willetton, 44 of them in the last two years. It's a suburb of established gardens on thirsty Bassendean sand, where head spacing and coverage matter as much as fixing the fault of the day — and where a fair share of our work is bringing older systems back up to modern standard rather than patching them one more time. Repairs are booked, not quoted over the phone. Bigger works are scoped properly on site — and if a rebuild makes more sense than another patch, we'll say so and show you why.

Older Willetton systems often have ageing solenoids, worn pop-ups and outdated controllers — easy wins for water efficiency once they're serviced or upgraded. Verge and streetscape watering rules sit with the City of Canning — worth checking before verge retic work, and we can advise on what your council allows. Bassendean sands hold the least moisture of any Perth soil; gardens rely almost entirely on well-tuned reticulation, making head spacing and run times critical. Domestic bores perform well across this sand-plain suburb, and an older bore is often worth servicing rather than abandoning. Bore watering follows the standard 2-day roster and the June-August sprinkler switch-off. Local average is ~808mm a year, about 79% of it in the May-September wet season (Jandakot Aero) — reprogram seasonally and switch sprinklers off for the mandatory June-August ban. We're about 6 km from our Jandakot base, well inside the daily service runs.

We’re Waterwise-endorsed and Irrigation Australia members, every job is backed by a full warranty, and we’re Perth’s most-reviewed retic specialist (rated 4.7 from 230 Google reviews).

What does Willetton’s soil and water mean for your retic?

Soil — Bassendean sands. Deep grey leached sand that repels water once it dries out: break the cycle with wetting agents and shorter, more frequent irrigation starts.

Groundwater & bores. Good bore country: the superficial aquifer is within practical drilling reach under these sands. Watering from a bore costs pumping power rather than scheme rates — with the same 2-day roster and winter ban as everyone else.

Rainfall — about 808mm a year. Expect ~808mm annually per the Jandakot Aero gauge, heavily winter-weighted (~79% May-Sep): summer is effectively rain-free, so summer run times carry the garden.

Customer stories from Willetton

The verge rebuild built to survive the street

Verge retic in Willetton lives a hard life: mowers, car tyres, foot traffic. For one front-verge rebuild we ran new 20mm PVC and set Hunter PGJ gear drives along the kerb and driveway lines on both sides of the frontage — three new stations across the two verges and their garden beds, with 12-foot precision nozzles in the beds for slower, longer watering. Every roadside gear drive got a concrete surround, which is the difference between a sprinkler that survives a wheel and one that doesn't. The rear garden was working fine, so it stayed untouched — you rebuild what needs rebuilding, not everything in sight.

Six new solenoids and a system worth saving

This one started as 'stations 2 and 6 not working' and turned out to be a system at the end of its rope: master valve stuck on, a controller that couldn't hold its settings, and 19mm laterals running straight off the solenoids trying to feed nozzles they could never properly drive.

Rather than patch it again, we rebuilt it. A new six-station manifold with six new solenoids and a new master valve, a junction box, and around 12 metres of new wiring run in conduit. A new controller that actually remembers its program. MP rotator nozzles across the board for even, matched coverage — 17 sprinklers replaced and two more added where the spacing demanded it, micro sprays added to the back yard, a crushed pipe redirected around a tree, and about 30 old holes plugged along the way. The bones of the system were good; everything bolted to them wasn't.

The handover in the hot seat

A Willetton front-yard renewal finished the way we reckon every bigger job should: with the client driving. New solenoid valves housed in a commercial-grade valve box and rewired back to the controller, new 20mm PVC with pop-ups and Toro sprays to the side garden bed, replacement pop-ups and nozzles throughout plus four extras where coverage was thin. Then the walk-through — every station run one by one with the client checking the coverage, and finally the controller handed over with the client in the hot seat, pressing the buttons, until running the system felt normal. A system you don't understand is a system you'll be paying someone else to program forever.

Reticulation Willetton FAQs

Yes: gear-drive sprinklers set along the kerb and driveway lines, each in a concrete surround so wheels and mower decks ride over the top rather than through it. We rebuilt both verges of a Willetton frontage exactly this way. Verge watering rules sit with the City of Canning, and we can advise what's allowed before any work starts.
When the faults start stacking: a master valve stuck on, a controller that won't hold its program, undersized laterals starving the nozzles. One Willetton system showed all three, and a rebuilt manifold, new controller and matched MP rotator nozzles ended years of patch-ups. We assess it honestly on site and tell you which side of the line your system is on.
