What does Warwick’s soil and water mean for your retic?
Soil — Spearwood sands. This limestone-derived sand holds little water, favouring a watering-day run split into two shorter cycles. Alkaline soil and caprock are normal here — worth knowing before any retic excavation.
Groundwater & bores. Good bore country: the superficial aquifer is within practical drilling reach under these sands. Watering from a bore costs pumping power rather than scheme rates — with the same 2-day roster and winter ban as everyone else.
Rainfall — about 718mm a year. Local average is ~718mm a year, about 79% of it in the May-September wet season (Perth Metro) — reprogram seasonally and switch sprinklers off for the mandatory June-August ban.

Flushing the line with the heads off in Warwick
A Warwick system was worked through with a method worth describing: every head was removed and the line flushed before anything was refitted. Running a system with the nozzles off lets the debris inside the pipe out through the open risers (the upright pipe a sprinkler sits on) instead of jamming in the nozzles — and on a system where several heads have already blocked, that debris is definitely present.
Our technician then repaired a riser by the driveway, replaced two damaged street-side sprinklers, and swapped two metal nozzles for shrub adapters and nozzles, which improved both coverage and the pressure available to the rest of the station. Riser sizes were adapted where needed.
