A Spearwood leak that couldn't be turned off
A Spearwood property had a major water leak at the front and — the more urgent part — no way to turn the reticulation off. The isolation valve was broken and would not shut.
Our technician replaced it first, because until a system can be isolated nothing else can be worked on safely and the water keeps running. With control restored, the solenoids (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) were located using a wire tracker and two were replaced, which stopped the leaking.
The system was left isolated at that point: multiple sprinkler heads are missing or broken, and it needs a further visit to test and repair properly rather than being returned to service in a state where it will simply leak again. A working isolation valve is the most useful component on a system when something goes wrong, and the one nobody thinks about until that day.
