Rebuilding the supply end of a North Coogee system
A North Coogee system had its supply end rebuilt properly. Our plumber cut in at the existing mains connection with a new isolation ball valve and backflow prevention device — that connection is licensed plumbing work — and our technician installed the master solenoid valve off 25mm PVC mainline and rewired the system so the master valve (the main valve that shuts the whole system off) actually has power to it.
The backflow valve is the one worth naming: it prevents water in the irrigation system being drawn back towards the mains supply, which matters because retic pipework sits in soil and can carry fertiliser, soil and whatever else has entered through a break. Two opportunistic repairs were made while the ground was open — an ageing solenoid coil (the electrical part of that valve) replaced on an existing valve, and a weeping joint in the poly repaired.
Both were exposed anyway, and dealing with them then costs a fraction of returning for them.
