Converting a Sorrento system back to mains
A Sorrento system was fed from a bore that could not be found. Our technician searched without success, and with the owner's approval the system was converted back to mains water instead: the mainline was cut in to the mains supply and the old bore feed capped off.
That is a significant decision and it was made with the owner rather than for them. A bore that cannot be located cannot be maintained, and continuing to depend on it means every future fault begins with the same unsuccessful search.
The valves were in poor condition too — all the solenoids (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) were leaking with failing diaphragms, and all were replaced. Some wiring between the controller and the valves was broken, so new wire was installed, again with approval.
The controller was then programmed and the system tested.
