Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. Well-drained yellow sands over Tamala limestone: water moves through fast, so a properly scheduled controller and soil wetters do the heavy lifting.
Groundwater & bores. Groundwater under this part of the coastal plain is generally accessible, so a garden bore (new or revived) is a practical way to water without paying scheme rates. Water Corporation's roster and winter sprinkler ban still apply to bores.
Rainfall — about 718mm a year. About 718mm a year (Perth Metro), with ~79% arriving May-September — a smart controller with seasonal adjust handles the swing, and winter watering is largely unnecessary even before the ban.

A pressure reducing valve at a Wangara pump outlet
A Wangara property had a substantial amount of head replacement — five broken sprinklers, fifteen heads, six micro jets and two gear drives (a rotating sprinkler for larger areas) — and the more interesting work was upstream of all of it. A new pressure reducing valve was installed at the pump outlet feeding the sprinklers.
Pressure that is too high is not a benefit: it atomises spray into mist that drifts and evaporates instead of landing, and it is hard on every fitting, seal and head on the system. On a property replacing that many heads, excessive pressure is a credible reason why.
A shut-off valve was also installed on an old line running to the roof, since the pressure reducing valve for that line could not be located. Every sprinkler was then adjusted to keep spray off the road, paths and driveway.

Local reticulation questions
Yes, but get the City's approval first. Wangara is in the City of Wanneroo. Irrigation pipes and connections shall be laid beneath the nature strip between 150mm and 300mm deep.
Generally yes — Wangara sits over accessible groundwater, which is why garden bores are common here. What varies is depth, yield and how much iron comes up with the water — all worth checking on your block before committing. We install, service and repair bores and pumps.
Wangara sits on Spearwood sands. Water moves through it fast, and the sand can turn water-repellent once it dries out. The most common thing we get booked for in Wangara is solenoid & valve repairs, so that's where the technician starts. We set run times to deliver about 10mm on each of your two rostered days, and split the run into two cycles inside the same watering window where the soil needs it.
Water Corporation sets Wangara's sprinkler days: check yours with your street number and postcode. In Perth and Mandurah that's two days a week, once before 9am or after 6pm, bores included; elsewhere the roster can differ. The winter switch-off runs from 1 June to 31 August. After it, the Bureau of Meteorology's Perth Metro station averages about 80 mm of rain in September and 40 mm in October.

If you know where your valve boxes are, say so when you book: on an older system, finding buried valves can take longer than replacing them.
