What does Wangara’s soil and water mean for your retic?
Soil — Spearwood sands. Well-drained yellow sands over Tamala limestone: water moves through fast, so a properly scheduled controller and soil wetters do the heavy lifting.
Groundwater & bores. Groundwater under this part of the coastal plain is generally accessible, so a garden bore (new or revived) is a practical way to water without paying scheme rates. Water Corporation's roster and winter sprinkler ban still apply to bores.

A pressure reducing valve at a Wangara pump outlet
A Wangara property had a substantial amount of head replacement — five broken sprinklers, fifteen heads, six micro jets and two gear drives (a rotating sprinkler for larger areas) — and the more interesting work was upstream of all of it. A new pressure reducing valve was installed at the pump outlet feeding the sprinklers.
Pressure that is too high is not a benefit: it atomises spray into mist that drifts and evaporates instead of landing, and it is hard on every fitting, seal and head on the system. On a property replacing that many heads, excessive pressure is a credible reason why.
A shut-off valve was also installed on an old line running to the roof, since the pressure reducing valve for that line could not be located. Every sprinkler was then adjusted to keep spray off the road, paths and driveway.
