What does Oakford’s soil and water mean for your retic?
Soil — Bassendean sands. Deep grey leached sand that repels water once it dries out: break the cycle with wetting agents and by splitting the run into two shorter cycles inside the same watering window (both before 9am, or both after 6pm).

Iron buildup in an Oakford garden bed line
An Oakford property had a poly line in a garden bed that kept blocking, and the cause was iron. Bore water in parts of Perth carries dissolved iron, which oxidises on contact with air and deposits inside pipework and emitters — the same process that stains paving orange.
Over time it narrows the pipe and blocks nozzles, and no amount of clearing individual emitters fixes a line that is furring up internally. Our technician replaced that section of poly, installed three new sprinklers on risers (the upright pipe a sprinkler sits on) with new pipework and fittings, and replaced two blocked micro nozzles.
The pipework was then flushed with the bore running until the water came through clear. Flushing until clear, rather than for a set time, is the only way to know the new pipe is starting clean.
