Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. This limestone-derived sand holds little water, favouring a watering-day run split into two shorter cycles. Alkaline soil and caprock are normal here — worth knowing before any retic excavation.
Groundwater & bores. Sandy soils over shallow groundwater make this classic garden-bore territory; running retic from a bore takes garden watering off the scheme-water bill. Bores follow the same 2-day roster and winter switch-off as scheme users.

Adjusting the arcs on a Leederville lawn
A Leederville job was about coverage rather than failure. All the pop-up sprinklers at the front of the property were replaced, with the exception of one in the garden that was still doing its job, and the arcs and nozzles were then adjusted across the lawn.
Arc adjustment is the step skipped most often after a head replacement. A new sprinkler comes set to a default arc, and unless it is dialled to the shape of the area it sits in, it will either throw water onto the path and driveway or leave a wedge of lawn dry.
Two heads set to heavily overlapping arcs waste the overlap as well. Replacing heads is the visible part of the job; setting each one to the space it actually has to cover is what makes the difference on the lawn.
