An Iluka system was reported with station 2 stuck open. Testing established that the valve actually stuck open was station 3 — and then a second stuck valve was found, which by elimination must be station 2 after all. Untangling which physical valve corresponds to which station number is a real part of this work, and it matters: replacing the valve you were told about rather than the one that is faulty leaves the fault exactly where it was. Our technician also dealt with a problem at the master valve (the main valve that shuts the whole system off), where the controller was displaying an error indicating a wiring or coil fault; testing pointed to the coil, which was replaced. Controller error codes are useful, but they identify a symptom at the terminal, not which valve out in the garden is causing it.
Verge planting and reticulation rules sit with the City of Joondalup, while watering days come from the Water Corporation sprinkler roster, not the council — worth checking both before any verge retic work. We're about 42 km from our Jandakot base, well inside the daily service runs.

Sand over limestone: what it means for your retic
Soil — Spearwood sands. Quick-draining yellow sand where moisture rarely lingers; frequent short cycles and periodic coverage checks keep growth even across the limestone country.
Groundwater & bores. This is favourable ground for garden bores — sand all the way to the water table in most streets. Bore-fed retic avoids scheme water charges, though the same 2-day roster and winter switch-off govern when it can run.

Local reticulation questions
Yes, it's a permissible verge treatment. Iluka is in the City of Joondalup. Irrigation pipes should be laid beneath the verge at a depth between 150mm and 300mm.
Generally yes — Iluka sits over accessible groundwater, which is why garden bores are common here. Depth, yield and iron content still vary block to block, so it's worth assessing rather than assuming. We install, service and repair bores and pumps.
