The battery tab still in a Henderson controller
A Henderson system had low pressure caused by a solenoid valve (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station) that would not close — a valve staying open bleeds pressure away from whichever station is meant to be running. Our technician located it with a valve locator, replaced it and remade the wire connections, then repaired a broken 20mm PVC lateral, a pop-up sprinkler and blocked nozzles, and replaced two damaged spotter boxes.
The smallest item on the list is the one worth repeating: the battery tab was still in the controller. New controllers ship with a plastic tab isolating the backup battery, and if it is never removed the battery does nothing — so at the first power interruption the clock resets and the system starts watering on the wrong days, off its rostered schedule.
Pulling that tab takes a second and is missed remarkably often.
