Verge planting and reticulation rules sit with the City of Stirling, while watering days come from the Water Corporation sprinkler roster, not the council — worth checking both before any verge retic work. We're about 21 km from our Jandakot base, well inside the daily service runs.

What does Churchlands’s soil and water mean for your retic?

Soil — Spearwood sands. Well-drained yellow sands over Tamala limestone: water moves through fast, so a properly scheduled controller and soil wetters do the heavy lifting.

Groundwater & bores. Shallow sandy geology means bores in this area usually deliver reliable garden water; pairing one with well-tuned reticulation keeps large lawns affordable. The 2-day roster and winter ban apply to bore watering too.

Rainfall — about 727mm a year. Local average is ~727mm a year, about 78% of it in the May-September wet season (Swanbourne) — reprogram seasonally and switch sprinklers off for the mandatory June-August ban.

What kind of retic work do we do in Churchlands?

The Churchlands jobs we've done to date centre on controller work, servicing & tune-ups and sprinkler & pop-up repairs. Wherever your fault sits, the diagnosis process is the same disciplined one we run on every Perth job.

From our Churchlands job book

A missing gear drive on a Churchlands riser

A Churchlands system had a riser (the upright pipe a sprinkler sits on) on station 2 with no sprinkler on the end of it — the gear drive (a rotating sprinkler for larger areas) had gone missing entirely. That is worse than a broken head.

A riser with nothing fitted is an open pipe discharging at full flow, which both floods the immediate area and starves every other head on the station of pressure, so the whole zone underperforms while one spot gets drowned. Our technician fitted a replacement gear drive, repaired a broken riser in the front garden zone and replaced faulty micro sprays, then checked and programmed the controller.

If part of a garden is suddenly soggy while the rest has gone dry, a missing or snapped head is the first thing to look for — it explains both symptoms at once.

Reticulation Churchlands FAQs

Yes, no prior approval needed. Churchlands is in the City of Stirling. Ideally your waterwise verge won't need a permanent irrigation system once established. If you do require irrigation, sub-surface drip irrigation is recommended. The sprinkler roster is a Water Corporation matter, so it doesn't change at the council boundary.

Verge rules by council

Generally yes — Churchlands sits over accessible groundwater, which is why garden bores are common here. That said, two neighbouring blocks can differ on yield and iron content, so it's an assessment rather than a given. Bores, pumps and bore-fed retic are all work we do.

Garden bores in Perth

Churchlands sits on Spearwood sands. Water moves through it fast, and the sand can turn water-repellent once it dries out. The most common thing we get booked for in Churchlands is controller work, so that's where the technician starts. Run times get set to put down roughly 10mm per rostered day, delivered in one or two cycles inside the same watering window, depending on how fast it soaks.
