What kind of retic work do we do in Walliston?
A Walliston site runs two controllers, with a relay in the first one carrying what appeared to be the common and master valve wires. Our technician tested the common against every station port in that controller and got positive readings throughout, then located the master valve (the main valve that shuts the whole system off) and checked whether each controller could open it. The first could; the second did not respond. The relay was doing more harm than good, so it was removed from the circuit entirely and the master valve and common wires (the shared return wire every valve uses) connected directly in both controllers, so either can operate the master valve. The master valve itself was replaced. Where two controllers share a system, both need a working path to the master valve — otherwise half the site cannot water regardless of its own programming.
