Getting the wire to the controller in Anketell
An Anketell job had a constraint that shaped the whole installation: the controller position was fixed by an existing outdoor power point at the front of the house, and the valves are elsewhere. Getting solenoid wire from the valves to that controller meant lifting and relaying paving along the route.
That is the hidden cost in retrofitting a controller to an established property, and it is worth knowing before choosing where the controller goes — the convenient wall for the unit is not always the least expensive one once the wire has to reach it. The work also included minor earthworks, reusing existing soil and shaping new levels to match the surrounding hard surfaces, plus rubbish removal.
