Fifteen metres of missing wire in Parkerville
A Parkerville system had station 14 not working, and the assumption going in was a faulty solenoid (the electrically-operated valve that feeds one station). Electronic location proved otherwise: there were breaks in the wire, and a section of between ten and fifteen metres was simply missing altogether.
Not damaged — gone. Our technician ran new wire over that section rather than attempting to repair around it, which is the only option when the conductor is absent.
That is a diagnosis worth making before replacing a valve, because a new solenoid on a wire that does not reach the controller behaves exactly like a faulty one. The master valve (the main valve that shuts the whole system off) was also replaced, and pop-ups and microjets across the front and rear of the property repaired.
Confirming whether a dead station is electrical or mechanical is the first question, not the last.
